Carmen Llin

About:

Carmen Armiñana Llin (allegedly Tao Lin’s daughter, born in Chernobyl, 2002) is a multimedia artist working across installation, painting, video art, performance, internet art, and textile sculpture. A recent graduate of Valencia’s Polytechnic University, her work navigates the shifting boundaries between dreams and reality, exploring memory, desire, internet culture, femininity, and death.
Currently, Llin investigates the aesthetics of apocalyptic fiction through video and installation, merging old iconography with digital culture. Her work balances irony and melancholy, exposing the absurdity of nostalgia in an era of fractured narratives.
Lies and false memories weave through Llin’s practice as they do the mind. Raised among images of weeping saints and blistering wounds, she absorbed half-truths—stories reaching beyond reality. At the same time, she discovered the world through the cracks of an old computer, consumed by images that seemed to swallow her whole. In some ways, they did.
Working with broken images and fractured narratives, Llin uncovers hidden meanings through pixelated bruises. What appears violent may conceal light; what seems tender may hint at darkness. Through poetry, painting, and film, she explores the tension between nostalgia and deception, blending religious iconography with internet aesthetics. Her work is both ironic and mournful, playing with digital relics while longing for something that may never have existed.
Like memory, the internet is both a house under construction and a ruin—a dream without beginning or end, erasing time while manufacturing nostalgia.
